My cat has a bleeding growth on his leg. Can Petco vets treat it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 24 years and 1 month old | 22 lbs

My cat has a fatty tumor cysct growth on the outside of his rear leg just at the joint of his leg above his rear paw. It doesn't seem to bother him, but it has opened twice. The growth has been there 2months. I've kept it cleaned, applied triple antibiotic & kept wrapped when it opened. I just changed wraps today & cleaned. I area Once a week. What is this & can vets at Petco treat it? What is cost to remove?

To say what it is, we would need to take a sample of cells for examination under a microscope. Before it gets bigger, it should be removed. The bigger it gets, the harder it will be to remove since there is not a lot of excess skin that can be stretched to cover the hole created when it is removed. I would recommend calling your local PetCo clinic to see if this service is offered, since it varies widely from location to location.
