My dog has an infected eyelid bump and a lump on her head. What is it?

My dog has some sort of bump/sore on her eyelid with some yellow/green pus. She also has a small bump on her head. What could this be? Should I be worried?

Hello, sorry to hear about Coco. I would have her bump checked out. Looking at it appearance and location it’s probably a clogged tear duct. However without assessing it, it is difficult to tell you wether or not Coco has an abscess (infection) or a small tumor. The same is possible for the bump on her head. Have her evaluated soon so that your veterinarian may be able to obtain samples/treat these nodules soon. Hope this helps and best of luck.

    Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the pictures and seeing that Maya is 3 months old, I would suspect that this is from a bug bite or something poked her in that area causing a raised bump. This could become infected so I would keep an eye on this. If after 3-5 days it does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend taking her in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I recommend to have Coco examined by the veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examine under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. This could be many things like an ingrown hair, a tick bite, an abscessed tooth, a skin growth. That's why she needs a physical. Have this checked out soon.

My dog has developed some lumps on her head and at the corner of her left eye by the tear duct
These can either be cysts, or a couple of different types of eyelid tumors. Eyelid tumors are usually not cancerous, but can grow and cause damage to the eye. Also, the larger they grow, the more difficult they are to remove. For this reason, it's best to have a vet examine Tammy sometime soon, so they can identify the cause of these lumps and provide the best course of treatment. Hi, my dog Lilly has a weird bump on her eye lid. She's had it since birth. It almost looks like a big stye, but I could be wrong. It has discharge coming out and her eye is very irritated. I dont know what to do. Help!

I would recommend having Lilly examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. This may be a cyst or mass on the eyelid that may need to be removed. This mass / cyst may be causing irritation to the eye and if it is not addressed it may cause trauma to the cornea of the eye due to constant irritation. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! While a growth is possible, this is actually likely just a bit of inflammation possibly due to trauma. I would recommend you continue to monitor him closely for now. However, if this does not improve or you notice any squinting or eye discharge, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!

There is a cyst like bump on my dogs eye lid..it seemed to have look like it burst earlier today and the eye looks better but yet still irritated around the eye. Do I need to go to the vet still?
Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Bumps on eye-lids can be cysts, but they can also be other masses like tumors. For this reason getting it checked is recommended. In the mean-time, I would check for squinting, moving away from your hand when you go to pet him on that side of the face, redness/blueness/whiteness of the eye-ball itself that is different from the other eye, or scratching/pawing at the eye. If any of these are occuring, then I would take Marley to a vet. If he isn't too concerned about it, and isn't squinting or moving away from you, and is only minimally pawing at it, then I would recommend getting an E-collar (you can pick one up from any emergency clinic without an appointment as it is now late in Australia), to prevent ongoing trauma to the eye which can get much much worse with scratching. I would then get Marley to your vet in the morning. Best of luck with Marley.

My dog had entropion surgery a few years ago and now he has a hard bump on the outside of his lower eyelid. Do we need to get this checked? It doesn’t seem to bother him but it has grown a little over the last year from the first time I noticed it.
Hello. The bump on the picture looks like either a growth/tumor or a cyst. Many of these are benign but it is recommended that you have your veterinarian look at it in person to advise you if this should be surgically removed. Hello. It is important to have a veterinarian examine this in person, but it looks like a growth or cyst originating from the Meibomian glands - which are glands that help tear production. These growths and cysts are usually benign but can become infected, rupture open or irritate the surface of the cornea if they get big enough. Even if your veterinarian diagnoses this as a non-cancerous growth or a cyst, it may still require surgical removal at some point. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Hello, thank you for your question about Chloe. Based on the photos that you've attached and the symptoms that you are describing it sounds like Chloe may have a mass/tumor on her eyelid. These are generally benign and do not lead to systemic problems. Other possible causes include a cyst or local infection. Since this lesion is growing in size I would recommend having Chloe seen by your veterinarian. If it continues to grow it may lead to problems on the surface of her eye. Your veterinarian can examine Chloe and determine the need for diagnostics such as ocular examination and potential removal of this lesion. Hope this helps!

This lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors. Without a picture or examining Laila it's difficult to say what is going on for sure. Dogs can get small tumors on their eyelids called meibomian gland tumors and normally these are benign. However, I'm a little concerned that it has gotten larger overnight. It could also be an area of infection or a more serious tumor type. If you can post a picture of Laila it may be helpful to give you further advice. If not, it would be best to err on the side of caution and have Laila examined by your veterinarian.
