Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed | 0.3 lbs
I took my hamster to the vet and got meds and pain killers for her. They think it may be a respiratory infection but won’t know for sure. I have given my hamster the meds but she is no longer eating. How can I help her get some food in her stomach? Also how long can hamsters go without food/water? If she had a respiratory infection should a take out her cage wheel? Also am I aloud to give my hamster a puff of a asthma puffer? If so how much (if it will give her relieve) ? Don’t want to overdose

Thanks for reaching out about Dexter. No, on the inhaler as she probably doesn't have asthma and overdosing can be serious. Animals usually suffer from dehydration prior to starvation. Offer water via a syringe, then can moisten pellets and offer also. Taking out the wheel is a good idea. If not improved after 48 hours for medication, a re-visit to the veterinarian is recommended. Good luck.
