My dog has lymphoma. Is starting chemo too late after two weeks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Smooth Fox Terrier | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 7 months old | 20 lbs

My fox terrier was diagnosed with lymphoma 2 weeks ago and since then the lumps under his chin are quite large, as well as 2 smallish lumps in his groin area and 2 small lumps behind his legs. Being 2 weeks in, is it too late to now start chemotherapy?

Hi there. In general, you can start chemotherapy anytime - two weeks after diagnosis isn't a long time at all. I would suggest talking to your veterinarian about your options, if you think you may be interested in doing chemo.
