My dog limps after running. Could it be serious? What helps?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 104 lbs

Pilot has been limping lately .. it’s his left leg. I noticed first that he had a hard time sitting down, but he still can. He only limps really bad after he gets done running outside for a while . When we was younger though he did get attacked on that leg I don’t know if that would have anything to do with it. I just don’t know what to do to help him gain some comfort. We just got a hip and joint product that’s the picture. Do you think this will help him?

Hello, sorry to hear about Pilot. This product will definitely help keep his joints well lubricated and healthy. However, if he has any underlying arthritis or ligament injuries, it may not help treat this over all. I would recommend consulting with your primary care veterinarian about his lameness to make sure he does not have a ACL injury, hip dysplasia, or other orthopedic injuries. In general, modified low impact activity such as swimming and walking is preferred over running, jumping and rough housing. Hope this helps and best of luck.
