Pet's info: Small Animal | Ferret | Female | spayed
I’ve been gone for two days, and my ferret is eating what she normally gets, redford naturals dry kibble. I came home to her stool being very yellow diarrhea.

Thanks for reaching out about Dixie. Yellow stool is a concern and could be an indication of an infection, whether bacterial or viral, to be determined. If persists, a veterinary visit is indicated. Monitor appetite and water intake, as you have been. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Atlas and including photos. If you believe there could be blood in the stool, a veterinary visit is highly recommended. Ingested foreign bodies are common and easier to deal with early on in the process, then after they are debilitated. Ferrets should not be allowed to run around unsupervised as this is a common occurrence. The latin name for ferrets is Mustella furo putro or the "stinky thief". Monitor closely for appetite, straining to defecate or indication of pain, as these should be considered a veterinary emergency and not wait until the next day. Good luck.

Since your ferret has been having abnormal stool for quite some time now I would recommend taking him to the vet to be examined and having a fecal sample checked. Your ferret may have parasites, irritable/inflammatory bowel disease, a forgein body or some other issue going on. Continue to feed him a bland diet until you can get him checked out. I would also recommend weighing him weekly to make sure he is not losing weight. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.

Hi, and thanks for your question. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
