Why does my dog have lumps under her neck and what's the remedy?

My dog has some sort of lumps underneath her neck. What is really the cause and what's the most prescribed remedy?

Are these lumps in the skin? Do they seem to be under the skin? How old is your dog? How long have the bumps been there? If it is possible to upload a picture that may help us as well.
