My dog was bit by a cat. Why is he sick, lethargic, and limping?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | neutered | 18 lbs

My dog was bitten by a cat a week ago. Now he won't eat, he's lethargic and seems to be having problems walking. Is this related to the bite?

It's very possible your dog's illness is related to the cat bite. He likely has an infection since cat bites tend to seal over and trap bacteria inside to fester. I strongly recommend getting your dogs seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam, wound care and probably antibiotics to help him heal faster.
