Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm so sorry Libby isn't feeling well. I do not recommend any over the counter treatments for diarrhea for Libby. It may be helpful to discuss if feeding a prescription gastro intestinal diet would be recommended by her veterinarian. Often it can take time for GI inflammation to resolve and cure diarrhea. But if it is not resolving or has been going on for too long it may be stime to discuss doing further diagnostic testing with her vet. Some dogs may have pancreatic insuffeciency, malabsorption or food allergies that can cause chronic diarrhea. I hope she starts improving soon.

It sounds like your puppy does have case of colitis, or an inflammation of the colon, resulting in an increase in the volume and frequency of stools.

Colitis can be caused by many different things. Some of the more common causes include intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, food intolerance, irritable bowel disease, pancreatitis, a foreign body/blockage and viruses. If your puppy has been under treatment for more than 3 days,

I would recommend taking her in to your vet to be examined again and maybe have some additional testing done. They will likely want to check a stool sample and may recommend some lab work, xrays, and a dietary change. You may need a prescription diet or you can try feeding a bland diet like plain boiled chicken and rice.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
