How often to check my cat's temperature after mastectomy at night?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 7.7 lbs

My cat had a mastectomy 3 days ago. They removed a lot, but doc says it's healing well. She had been having fevers and that's why they decided to just do surgery. She's on pain meds and antibiotics. She stays at the vet all day and at 6pm we bring her home. How often should I check her temperature at night while she's not at the vet? I want to make sure any potential fever doesn't go undetected too long

I understand being worried about Cece. I would take it once before bed, and if it's normal, leave her for the night. If it's on the high side of normal (about 102.5F), take at least once more during the night. I hope this helps!
