How to treat cat ringworm with cream & stop it spreading to kids?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Sokoke | Male | neutered | 1 month and 24 days old

My cat has ringworm and my vet gave me an antifungal cream. How should I apply it and what else should I be careful about? I have little siblings so I'm afraid it'll infect them too. What should I do about hygiene and all? And also how can I help him get rid of the ringworm more quickly?

The cream should be applied always with gloves and extra care should be payed regarding hygiene. It would be best to avoid close contact with the cat and the infected area. Systemic medications are available but that would depend on the severity of the infection (if your vet prescribed an ointment that means it will be enough to resolve the infection).
