Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 16 days old | 2 lbs

Good day! Petchoaches We already go to vet like what you’ve said. There are some things that changed to cookie. She is now vomiting but its like only her saliva? But still she is not eating and drinking she is also still lethargic. Im just going to add, the vet recommend the Cotrimoxazole and Metronidazole 1/4 each in every feed and it is 6 times a day(its like 3times a day for every meds) but in every 2 hours. Hope you’ll answer again.I just need a prof. Veterinarian. Givesomeadviceplease

Us PetCoaches don't have access to your previously asked questions, so I am not quite sure what is going on with Cookie. Cotrimoxazole can cause GI upset and it may not be the best antibiotic for Cookie. Metronidazole is an good antibiotic for GI bacteria, but it can cause severe side effects if used in high doses over the day (I generally prescribe it for twice daily usage). Continued vomiting despite treatment means that there may be something else going on. Antinausea medications will help, but only if things like a GI obstruction have been completely ruled out. I would recommend you discuss the ongoing vomiting with your vet, or use a Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach Consult so that we can evaluate the entire case, diagnostics, and current treatments to help you decide what to try next with your vet.
