My dog has dark skin under her armpits and stomach. Is it normal?

My dog is nearly 2 and I just notice skin under her arm pits and stomach like pigmentation.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is not unusual for the skin in these areas to be darker or more pigmented than other areas, because of the extra rubbing that this skin gets. The more friction an area of skin deals with, the thicker and more pigmented the skin becomes. This is normal, and is nothing to worry about! I hope this is helpful!

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. It is difficult to say without some pictures of her skin. You are welcome to submitting your question with pictures attached. Some dogs will experience pigment changes to the skin on their underside as they age. If this is the case, it is not anything to worry about for her. Of course, there are other causes of changes to the skin. It would be best for her to see her veterinarian if you can convince your father. I hope this information helps!
