I am no sure I understand your question completely. There are different options on most electric collars. You can have just vibrate mode and an increasing amount of intensity on the "shock" mode. Both mode will usually buzz or beep prior to the animal actually receiving the negative reinforcement. As far as how many beeps is each one, it varies depending on the company.
