My cat has a fever and is crying. How can I keep her fever down?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 7.7 lbs

My cat has been on antibiotics and fluids for a high fever from mastitis. At night, how do I keep her fever down? She's in the bathroom and keeps crying and crying to get out. I have ice packs in there. Can I wet her with cold water? Should I worry about her crying?

Cece may be crying because she doesn't like being locked in the bathroom alone. You can try a cool damp cloth on her head and back to see if that helps with the fever. Do not wet her with cold water, that will stress her out. Best of luck.
