Why is my dog's neck squishy and sagging after an FNA procedure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 20 lbs

Why did my dog’s neck sag after FNA? Im so worried about it. The sagging feels squishy and it wasnt there before. It only showed up right after the FNA. Please help. Doesnt feel hard, just very soft. Vet has him on tranexamic acid and meloxicam. This is the day after the FNA. Also, the lumps on his jaw became hard after the procedure, grew bigger as well. Will it shrink? Please help

FNAs involve inserting a needle do they can be somewhat traumatic. I imagine it has upset the lump and caused some inflammation. With inflammation there can be fluid build up which is likely what you are seeing in the neck. If he is in pain or the swelling gets worse have the vet check him over.
