Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 months and 8 days old | 6.5 lbs
When my kitten is sleeping sometimes I wake him to make sure he is okay and sometimes he is unresponsive so i pick him up and pet and talk to him until he is responsive. This is very strange to me and Im scared for him... he always ends up being okay but I am concerned as I recently lost my 7 1/2 year old to a sudden unexpected heart attack. Is there something wrong and how can I explain whats happening to his vet and what can they do to figure out whats going on with my 6 month old kitten

Hello. Just tell your vet exactly what you have written. I understood your concerns immediately, & so will he. The most important thing is to listen very carefully to the heart to make sure there are no irregularities or murmurs, but I will tell you, sometimes when I pick up my sleeping cat, it is like picking up a limp rag as he too takes a few moments to waken. I think this is an indication of how safe & comfortable a cat is with their surroundings, that there is no need to be on guard every second. But once your vet has examined Beau, you can relax about his sleeping habits. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
