My new puppy cries in the crate. Should I make him sleep in his crate?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | 1 month and 5 days old

Hi, I adopted a beagle, it is 37 days old. He is not comfortable sleeping in the crate. He prefers to sleep alone in any corner of the room. Should I practice him to sleep in crate or shall I leave him as such? He is crying a lot if I leave him in the crate.

That all depends on the puppy. Crating tends to be safer because the puppy cannot get into potential harmful things. It also tends to help with house breaking.
