My dog chewed on toothpaste with fluoride, but no xylitol. Is he safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 20 lbs

My 20 lb 1yr old dog chewed on a tooth paste tube. I'm not quite sure how much was ingested, but by looks of it, he may have ingested about a third of the tube. I've attached a photo below. It does not seem as though he has ingested any parts of the tube or cap. It's just chewed but nothing missing or torn off. The brand is arm and Hammer. It does contain fluoride but NO xylitol. It is a non-suds toothpaste. Attached below are it's active ingredients

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sorry to hear that Chief may have ingested some toothpaste - he may experience some GI upset such as vomiting or diarrhea, but he should otherwise be fine. I hope this is helpful!
