My dog's penis is stuck out. Is it an emergency or an infection?

The is not an infection, that is an emergency however. The penis must be returned to the protection of the prepuce or will eventually die off and require amputation. I recommend getting to an ER hospital tonight. In terms of at home remedies, you can try sterile lube and table sugar to try and reduce things. However, I believe at this point you may just want to leave things to the professionals.

After that long if being it is a medical problem. He will need to see a vet Immediately for treatment which will involve sedation to try to replace it or surgery to help hold it in. In the mesntime keep it lubricates to prevent tbfrim drying out until he gets seen

Sometimes you have to exposure more to get it back in. Apply more lube ( sometimes I use karo syrup as this helps with swelling and a lubricant) and push the base of the penis forward and the skin backwards to expose it more. This can help spread the Lube and add more visual so you can see where the hang up is. from there try to pull the skin back around the penis. Sometimes it helps to grab each side at the tip of the skin and pull over. If it does not go in, your options are to make sure he can still urinate and make sure it stays moist or go to the ER. As long as as you keep it moist so it can’t dry out then you can wait unless there is swelling or trouble urinating

My dogs penis is sticking out slightly most of the time and he is licking it constantly. This is a new issue. It looks kind of red also, its usually lite pink in color. Its usually sticking out more than the photo shows. About 1/2 to 1 inch.
It could be he is suffering from paraphimosis, which is an inability to retract the penis back into the sheath. This can quickly turn into an emergency situation, as constricting of the blood flow will lead to a larger engorgement of the penis, necrosis (dead tissue), and potential damage to the urethra. If his penis hasn't been out too long (less than an hour), you can try to put it back yourself. First, thoroughly clean the penis, making sure there is no foreign material (such as fur) that is wrapped around the penis. Take a bag of frozen veggies wrapped in a towel, and apply it to the penis for five minutes at a time to try to reduce the swelling. Packaged peas work very well because they are mobile around the penis. Then apply a lubricant such as KY Jelly onto the penis, and very gently try to move the penis back into the sheath. He needs to have the penis put back in the prepuce as soon as possible before the penis loses circulation and becomes devitalized. This is an emergency. He needs a Vet, at home care would be too painful and likely unsuccessful. You can try sugar water and lube. But do not try very long, time is of the essence. My dogs pennies and testicles stuck outside what can I do
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Oh goodness! The 2 dwellings are not his testicles but the bulbourethral glands. Regardless this is very serious. I recommend immediate veterinary care. We need to decrease the penis swelling and get the penis back in to the prepuce. We do this by using lubricant, dextrose, steroids and sometimes they need to be sedated to get it up over the penis. I’d get him to the vet now. The longer you wait the increased risk there is to the tissue. I wish you the best!

I suspect your dog might be suffering from a condition called TVT ( transmissible veneral tumor), you need to take him to your vet urgently to get checked and cleaned, the penis needs to be put back in place and treatment for TVT started.

What a scary issue for both you and Chewie! There is a typo in your question, so I don't know how long his penis has been swollen but if it has been longer than an hour and cold water did not help I recommend taking him to an emergency room for treatment. The membrane on the penis is not designed to be exposed to the air for an extended period of time so it can become dried out and damaged when exteriorized for an extended. Of time and become susceptible to infection or even swelling that is severe enough to prevent urination. The emergency room will evaluate him and try to get the penis back in its sheath. Sometimes light sedation us required for this. Good luck!
