Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 lbs
Hi! We adopted our 11 month old kitten a month ago, and I noticed two small black things sticking out of his butt. I thought it was dried poop but when I tried to wipe his bottom they wouldn’t come off. Then randomly one of them did one day. I still thought it was poop, however I saw a long one sticking out this week. I don’t think it’s worms - he doesn’t seem to have any of the other symptoms of worms but I’m at a loss as to what it could be! I’m attaching a pic. Help! Thank you!

It possible you are seeing the opening of the anal glands with some waxy exudate built up in the opening. Cats will generally keep themselves clean but some are better than others. Not all cats require treatment for anal glands but you want want to call your veterinarian and ask. Also, you may be able to keep the area clean by soaking it with a warm wet cotton ball or a gentle cleaning once a day. I hope this helps.
