My German Shepherd has chronic stomach issues. What's the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 73 lbs

Hi Zeus is constantly having gastro infections. I have tried different foods and it is still happening. He has had 2 different types of test done and his pancreas and everis working fine. I have tried cooking chicken and rice but he eats alot and I cant afford to do that anymore. All my vet does is gives him med and tells us to come back in 2 weeks then gives more meds then a clean bill of health then a few months we are back for the same thing since 9 weeks old. What can be causing this?

German Shepherds have sensitive stomachs all around. Is it vomiting or diarrhea? I would recommend a gastrointestinal diet, it is typically prescription but this is a great way to help their diets. Sometimes they need a hydrolyzed diet for potential food allergies. I would also talk to your veterinarian about probiotics to see if this will help Zeus also.
