Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 13 years and 1 month old | 10 lbs
My mom has a cat that just turned 13 years old. For about a year now, Samson has been meowing non-stop in the middle of the night. He wakes up and then tortures us for hours with his meowing. I’ve gotten up and tried to give him attention, fed him, cleaned his litter box. He just won’t stop though. He is an indoor cat, so he is not trying to go out. He’s in good health, so not in pain or anything like that. Do you know why he is doing this and is there anything we can do to make him stop??

Nighttime vocalization in older cats is often due to an underlying medical problem such as hyperthyroidism, chronic kidney disease, or high blood pressure. I would recommend taking Samson to the vet for an exam and lab work to check for these problems. If a problem is found, starting on appropriate treatment will often resolve the vocalization issues.
