Thanks for reaching out about Danger Ziggy Green. The schedule for vaccinations is based on the age of the ferret not the purchase date. Distemper vaccines recommended at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. First rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. Different veterinarians have slightly different vaccination schedules, so call your local veterinarian. Good luck.

    Her is a perfect vaccination schedule by the American Ferret Association: https://www.ferret.org/read/vaccinations.html A one time distemper vaccination is not sufficient, your ferret will need at least two courses for a basic vaccination and then an annual repeat.

If she has not had any vaccinations and is already 3-1/2 months old then I would suggest this protocol: 1. CDV (canine distemper virus) -- Over 14 weeks of age and/or vaccination history unknown: a series of two vaccinations given at a 3-week interval, then booster yearly. 2. Rabies -- Vaccinate at 3 months (12 weeks) and booster yearly. I suggest you go to a vet that is used to treating ferrets to get the vaccinations done. Hope this helps. I am a ferret and she is 5/6 months old. I was wondering what kind of vaccinations she needs. I know she needs to be desired but I'm unsure of vaccinations. From what I know she has it ever been wormed.
The only vaccination she needs is distemper, unfortunately there is no ferret specific vaccination so most vets use a vaccination called DP which contains the distemper vaccination and is originally used in dogs (but it is suitable for ferrets).

Approximately how much would vaccinations for ferrets cost?
Vaccinations for ferrets would cost approximately the same as for dogs. A ferret needs a vaccination against canine distemper virus, and rabies annually. Vaccinations cost around 15-20$ each plus the wellness exam and this varies from location to location. Best call your veterinarian for a quote.

First off, does my ferret "have" to have his boosters and distemper shots? What vaccines does he need to have? And does my ferret have to have another ferret in his cage? And what are signs of depression for a ferret?
Ferrets should receive a distemper vaccine yearly as well as a rabies vaccine. Distemper in ferrets is nearly always fatal. It can be transmitted via bodily fluids from an infected animal. It is also an airborne virus. Prevention is very easy and effective via vaccination. Be sure your veterinarian uses a vaccine specifically for ferrets. As a public health hazard, rabies vaccination and may be mandated in many locations for pets. Your ferret does not "need" another ferret. Be sure to provide plenty of exercise and attention though. Depression can manifest as lethargy, loss of appetite, weight loss or even excessive grooming. where can I get my ferret vaccinated and not pay $100 each time I go. I have to get 4 of them.
You could contact your local shelter or animal control to see if there are any subsidized veterinary clinics in your area, however most subsidized veterinary care is for dogs and cats only. You could also try calling around to different clinics and hospitals for estimates on vaccines - most places would be happy to provide an estimate and there can be differences in price in the same city. It's important to remember routine veterinary care when budgeting for a pet. You may want to look into pet insurance for emergencies or illnesses, although the options are a little limited for ferrets.

Hello my doberman puppy is 40 days old so what all vaccine i should give and at what age and anti rabies when should i be giving her?
Great question! At 40 days of age, Daisy is just over 5.5 weeks old, so she is not old enough for her first vaccines. Puppies should be at least 6-8 weeks of age, and I would wait at least another 4 days before giving her the first vaccine. She will need a DHPPi, which protects again distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza. She will need three series of the DHPPi vaccines each given four weeks apart. The schedule would be: 1st shot at 6 weeks of age, 2nd shot at 10 weeks of age, and final shot at 14 weeks of age. In terms of rabies, that should not be given until she is 12 weeks old, and she will need two of the rabies vaccine given four weeks apart. She should therefore get the first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks of age and the second at 16 weeks of age. She will need a booster of both DHPPi and rabies at a year old. The vet can discuss the schedule of boosters after that with you. I hope this helps!

He will not be fully vaccinated until he's received two rounds of vaccines 3-4 weeks apart after 12 weeks of age. He will also need to have a rabies vaccine (which must be given by a veterinarian) between 12 and 16 weeks of age. Bring your shot records to that appointment to make sure there aren't other diseases Gizmo needs to be vaccinated for that aren't covered in your combos. Several rounds of deworming and fecal testing is also very important for puppies. Finally, by doing vaccines on your own, you're taking some risk of that vaccines not being fully effective if they weren't kept cold while being delivered or on your way home from the store. Boarding families, airlines, and customs may also not recognize Gizmo has up to date on vaccines.

Hi, how long do I have to wait to get a puppy it’s outside shots and rabies shots?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco and congrats on the new baby! I do not recommend starting the distemper/parvo vaccines until 6-8 weeks of age. They should be repeated every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age. The rabies vaccine is usually given between 12 and 16 weeks of age. Best of luck to you and Oreo!
