My dog is sneezing, wheezing, and has ear drainage. Is it allergies?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 10 lbs

Hello, I recently adopted my dog a week ago and he started sneezing excessively, constantly licking his nose as he walks, and started having wheezing attacks. I'm not entirely sure if the wheezing attacks is reverse sneezing. I gave him benadryl as recommended by my vet who said that it's most likely allergies, but it didn't work. He also has drainage from his right ear in which the vet prescribed me chlorhexis for. I don't know what else to do.

Hello. There are quite a few YouTube videos showing reverse sneezing so you can easily view these to see if Loki is doing the same. If he is, this may just be a normal think for him & usually requires no treatment. Benadryl has never been very effective in dogs, but we do have excellent prescription medications such as the antihistamine hydroxyzine to the newest drugs to combat allergies including Apoquel & Cytopoint. But, I think Loki may just have a mild upper respiratory virus that should run its course in a week or so. Keep vigilant on the ear, that can actually give him more problems then anything else. Thank you so much for adopting Loki & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
