My python's eyes are glazed and he clicks. Is he blind or sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I am thinking my python is blind, his eyes are really glazed over. When I pull him out his tank, he will make a clicking noise with his mouth. Only thing I can determine, he is using the noise like a dolphin or bat makes their noise like a sonar. Is that possible for a python to do?

Thanks for reaching out about Fred. No, pythons do not have echolocation capabilities. Eyes can be cloudy pre-shed (called "in blue") or from infection. The clicking noise is probably an indication of a respiratory infection. check the environmental temperature and correct any deficiencies. A veterinary visit is recommended for antibiotics. Good luck.
