Why is my cat sneezing constantly but otherwise acting normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 years and 7 months old | 10 lbs

My cat began sneezing 3 days ago, with no discharge. He is eating, drinking, and purring. Went to vet yesterday, thinking grass was in nasal passage. Basic exam showed all systems clear. Vet chose not to sedate him to probe, no treatment ideas. In car and vet, B Bear did not sneeze or blow. Back home, immediately he showed congestion and dry nose "blowing", with sneezing (dry and wet) a bit later. A day later, no signs of illness, but sneezing/blowing continue. He is uncomfortable. Any ideas?

This may be just an upper respiratory infection which can be viral and last a good two weeks. If B isn't eating or isn't acting right then I would recommend going back to the veterinarian. When you shower you can take him in the bathroom and have the steam help with the congestion. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
