Why is my dog with seizure history yelping, panting, and distressed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Long Coat) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

My Dachshund chihuahua mix, 6.5 yrs old. Has had seizures most of her life on occasion & tests said she was normal. She has been very on edge recently yelping/full screaming randomly, I try to make her go outside with her brother (actual litter mate) & she won’t. she has been panting excessively with no exercise or outdoors, doesn’t appear to acknowledge when I call her when she used to, not even interested in special treats. She’s been attached to my ankles and hasn’t been like this before.

Poor GiGi! It’s possible she is experiencing some significant pain. Pain can come from many places and common locations are at the spine and the pancreas. With the history of seizures, that is a possibility that she is a experiencing some neurologic abnormalities as well. I recommend to play it safe and have her examined by the veterinarian right away. The physical exam is the best starting point to figure out what’s wrong. Best of luck and I hope she starts feeling better quickly.
