My 12-year-old dog has new crusty lumps on her face. What are they?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 13 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs

My 12 year old mixed terrier has 3 small masses on her face. I think one is a skin tag (Mass D, 2mm long), but one is a dark, slow growing, shiny mass (Mass C, 1mm width), and the other is the one I'm more worried about: Mass B, 2-3mm wide, have only noticed it this week. Pinkish, slight crusty/solid feeling to the lump. I'll attach photos. Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dilly. All three masses appear similar to skin growths seen in older dogs. Skin tags are common as are wart like growths. Other older dogs can have benign growths out of the hair follicles as well. He will need to see his veterinarian to know for sure, but hopefully they are not anything to worry about for him. I hope this information helps!
