My 8-month-old dog chews his privates and circles. What's wrong?

Hi my dog runs in circles and chases his his penis and once it falls out he eats it until I go. He knows it till it goes in and once it goes in then he starts chewing his balls he is 8 months old and he's done this all his life every since he's found them what's wrong with him. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 26 days old | 35 lbs

It’s hard to know why Marshall would do this for sure. If only he could talk! Dogs can have neurologic abnormalities that can cause them to exhibit this behavior. Dogs can also develop several odd OCD type behaviors as well. Sometimes these behaviors can be corrected or at least manage with the direction of a canine behaviorist. Treatment is typically heavy exercise, learning and teaching distraction techniques, sometimes medications and positive reinforcement for good behavior. I recommend to start with an exam with your veterinarian and then go from there.
