Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed
We have adopted an adorable dog from an old classmate. She obviously did not take care of her and we have been giving her lots of TLC since she's been here. My biggest concern is that she seems malnourished and has tears The girl we took her from is not clear on when she was Last pregnant or if she is now. She has a vet appointment this coming week but I really want to know how to first help her. I don't think she ia healthy enough to have have puppies. I just want her to be okay.

The best thing you can do for her at this point is to feed her a high quality diet, start any needed training and start a gentle exercise routine. I recommend a diet like Royal Canin because it has high quality, easy to digest protein and most pets love the taste. Your veterinarian will need to do the rest. Oreo will need to be checked for worms, checked for heartworms and have a general physical exam. You can also discuss any needed care or testing to make sure she is healthy. I also recommend to discuss having her spayed as this has significant health benefits. Congrats on adding Oreo to your family!
