My puppy has missing fur patches and crusty eyes. Is it allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 months and 22 days old | 17 lbs

Missing patches of fur have been showing up along with crusty looking eye lids. Is this a possible allergic reaction? There does not appear to be any 'bugs' on the dog. Nothing between paws or in ears. 3 1/2 month old Male lab-pitbull mix

Poor Roscoe! Allergies are possible but a more common cause would be skin mites (which you can only see what a microscope). Ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection are also possible. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who can preform a simple test to check for mites. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
