My guinea pig breathes fast when sleeping, but is fine awake. Why?

My guinea pig is breathing fast when he sleeps, I’m terribly worried about him the veterinarian said that his lungs sounded fine but he’s still breathing oddly, when he’s awake he breathes normally and he eats and drinks water

Hello. Pneumonia can be quite common in Guinea Pigs. Jasper's lungs may have sounded fine, but he should have had x-rays done to make sure there are on problems in the lungs. Talk to your vet about doing x-rays just to make sure nothing is being missed. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
