My dog has a sensitive stomach and won't eat. What food should I try?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 40 lbs

I'm giving my dog Hill's Science Diet Sensitive Skin and Stomach food, but he doesn't seem to like it any more and has had stomach issues. I brought him in for testing about a month ago and the vet had me start him on a low dose of omeprazole, this help with his occasional vomit, but he still is so-so about his food. He always use to be so excited. What type of food do you recommend?

You can try several other brands of food that are good for dogs with food sensitivity, such as Fromm, Merrick limited ingredient, or Victor to name a few. There are also prescription brands that are designed for pets with sensitive stomach, such as Royal Canin hydrolyzed protein or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal that you can discuss with your vet if interested. I hope that are able to get something that agrees with Louis's stomach and also is appealing to him soon. Best wishes and take care!
