My cat keeps licking his tail and it twitches. What's wrong?

my 8 year old male cat keeps licking end of tail and it twitches.I've checked,can't see any fleas.and he sleeps on white blanket,nothing on there either. Pet's info: Cat | Selkirk Rex | Male | neutered
