My dog is sore. Can I give him dog aspirin without kidney risk?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 6 years and 10 months old | 16 lbs

Hello, he got grabbed by a boxer dog. There where no wounds hes just sore. The asprin is dog asprin, is that any safer? He is feeling better today and he is acting normal (playing, walking, eating, drinking, using the bathroom okay) I dont really want to take him to the vet beacuse he was just there for kennel cough and I I'm really worried about giving him a lot of medication. I'm worried about his kidneys and other organs being affected by the medication. What do you think i should do?

Dog aspirin is a bit safer than regular human aspirin. However, now that he is feeling better I wouldn't feel the need to continue to give him the medication. Its best to just continue monitoring him and he will likely be fine here moving forward, especially if there are not wounds or even abrasions on the skin to speak of. Best wishes with your pet Oscar and I hope that he continues to do well. : )
