My cat has infected armpit wounds. How can I help her before the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed

Hello, I just took pictures of my cat Zoey. These wounds are on right arm in the arm pit. They look like they puss inside and Zoey has been licking them and popping them. Theres also a big lump in the photo about the size of a small marble, maybe infection? Anyway I plan to bring her into the vet, but can only do it tomorrow. Is there anything I could do now? I was thinking of putting a cone around her neck but do not have one. She is an outdoor and indoor pet. Thank you, -Patrick

Wow, that looks bad! Definitely get her into the vet tomorrow. You can put a cone on Zoey to keep her from licking this area, and I will put a link below on how to make one at home. Keep her indoors for now, and don't let her outside before her vet appointment. I hope this helps, Patrick! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ffR-LzyW1M
