My kitten has a swollen lip from a bee sting. How long will it last?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 lbs

My kitten has had a swollen lip for a couple days now. We couldnt figure out why until we found a dead bee in his favorite hiding place under the sink. The stinger on the bee is gone and we cant see it on the outside of his face but we suspect the stinger may be in his mouth. How long will it take for the swelling to go away and what do we do if we cant find the stinger?

If your kitten was stung by a bee it could take up to 72 hours for the swelling to start resolving. If he is otherwise acting normal and still able to eat I would not be too concerned. But if the swelling travels to other parts of the face or the swelling makes it difficult for him to eat, you should take him to the vet to be examined. I hope this helps.
