Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 75 lbs
My dog has gotten some type of infection on his cheek. Ive been cleaning it for a week now and it doesn't seem to be going away, and actually seems to be getting worse! Is there someone I could do at home or should I take him to a vet ASAP?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jax. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian soon. He appears to have a significant infection on his cheek. The hair surrounding the wound will be to be shaved to reveal the extent of the problem. Depending on the findings, he may need a cleansing solution and oral antibiotics. In some cases, skin tests are performed to determine the underlying cause of the wound. If he is pawing at the wound, place an E-collar on him to prevent and further trauma. I hope this information helps!

It could be from an injury. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

Honestly it could be either, and without seeing Jack in person, I can't say for certain. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!
