My Sphynx cat had kittens but stopped pushing, is one retained?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Sphynx | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 1 month old | 7 lbs

My Sphynx gave birth to 5 healthy babies Monday morning (and some late Sunday night) The X-ray showed 5 possibly 6 babies. I felt like i felt and saw another still in there but she hasn’t pushed since she birthed the last one. She’s eating and drinking fine Acting completely normal. My er vet said to come in if she acts unusual but I’m worried that she won’t pass the last one And would an oxytocin injection possibly fix the problem? I heard about interrupted labor so maybe it’s that?

I recommend you call your vet and have Lavinia examined to make sure all is well. They may recommend another x-ray just to make sure there are no complications and no kittens left in the birth canal.
