My dog has a lump after tick removal. Is this normal or painful?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 13 lbs

I noticed a very small tick, with an nearly orange like colour, above my dogs left eye last night. We removed it last night, unfortunately the body did burst and pus like stuff came out, but it then came out easily, with the head. The pus like stuff was wiped away with a alcohol wipe and the area was cleaned with another. Now, there is a lump, is this a natural reaction to tick removal? My dog seems a bit uncomfortable with us touching it, does this mean it hurts?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ace. It is common to have a small swollen area where the tick was. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian though to determine if any treatment is needed. Ticks are capable of spreading diseases to dogs. He should also be started on a flea and tick preventive. I hope this information helps!
