Why is my cat pulling out hair, limping, and has head gashes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

My cat Leo has been pulling his hair out. He has been doing it since he was little. He does it every where; in the floor, on my bed, on my head when I’m sleeping. I thought it was stress but he has free range of outside and inside and has other animals to hang out with. He also has a few gashes on his head and he has been limping all day from falling of my bed last night and it seems to hurt him in his shoulder area.

It can still be stress even if Leo has free range. Other animals can stress him out. It could also be due to fleas, mites, allergies, or medical problem. It's concerning he is limping, which means he is in pain. Do not give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I would take him into a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
