My dog has pneumonia. Why is she in pain and on the cold floor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years old | 13 lbs

My dog has pneumonia, and we can't afford hospitalizing her. We did get meds(cerenia inj, and tab, ampicillin inj.,clavamox+ suspension, vetprofen, and two more injections). We brought her home and have put on a humidifier to help relive her mucus, as well as doing coupage. She keeps on going to the tile floor and laying down and I'm kind of concerned because the floor is cold. She is also shaking and looks like she's in pain. What can I do for pain and to make her eat, should she be on the tile?

Poor Lucy! If she has pneumonia, she likely has a fever and that would make her hot, hence why she is laying down on a cold floor. Unfortunately you cannot give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I would give her vet a call to see if they can prescribe her some pain medication. I hope she starts to feel better soon!
