My dog is having trouble walking but can feel his toes, specifically the backside is what is casusing issues. He is eating and drinking, hasn’t pottied. How can I tell if it’s paralysis or something more treatable?

Hello, and thanks for your question. Chat needs to be seen by a veterinarian to determine the source of his walking troubles. It is possible he has a back injury such as intervertebral disc disease, which is generally treatable but very painful, and benefits from prompt medical care. He could also have something infectious, such as meningitis or lyme disease, which can affect movement. If he can still feel his toes, that's a good sign - but to improve, he may need medication to minimize inflammation, or to treat infection. Only a vet will be able to determine what's most likely going on, and get Chat started on the necessary medication. I recommend having him seen as soon as possible, as addressing his problem promptly will improve his overall chances of improving. Hope this helps - best wishes to you and Chat.
