My senior dog has a growth on his penis. Should I worry about surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 140 lbs

My 12 year old German Shepard dog has a hernia/tumour like structure along his penis. The penis is not blocked and the urine is without any blood or anything like that. I wanted to know what exactly is the tumour. Given his age we are a little concerned about prospects of a surgery

This growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Marshall to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
