Cat's high blood pressure meds not working. Should I double the dose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years old | 5 lbs

Took my cat to the emergency vet last night. Spent a lot of money. Daisy has sudden severe hypertension, no primary causes found, all labs normal. The amlodipine has not helped her symptoms. Can I double up on her meds?

I can't legally recommend doing that without seeing Daisy in person. It's never recommend to change a cat's medication without seeing the vet in person because you could accidentally do great harm. Give the vet a call now to let them know she is still suffering from her symptoms, and they can advise you further. Best of luck.
