My senior cat has hyphema, kidney disease, and high blood pressure. How to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 12 years and 9 months old | 7 lbs

My cat is 13 year old and has kidney insufficiency. She lost her right eye because of high blood pressure caused by it. Eye problems started from hyphema and led to retina detachment. Now I am trying to save her second eye. She got hyphema in her second eye. Medicines advised by doctors in our country don't help her. Apart from that, she is trembling. Please give me any advice about how to stop hyphema and save the cat's second eye!

To save the other eye Monu probably needs to have her hypertension controlled. I typically use amlodipine for blood pressure. Topical corticosteroids like prednisolone acetate help reduce inflammation from hyphema to prevent glaucoma. If you feel your vet isn’t helping you could get a second opnion.
