My dog has cystitis and thick vulvar discharge. Is it normal?

My dog is diagnosed with cystitis in urinary bladder n ultrasound showed nothing else except cystitis she is having off white to white thick n stretchy discharge very heavy from her vulva.discharge is coming even when she is sleeping or barking.vet told that discharge is due to cystitis only.

The discharge could be coming from the urinary tract or the reproductive tract, especially if unspayed. Cystitis is not normal so i am assuming your vet saw bladder wall thickening on the ultrasound. Infection needs to be ruled out. Has a urine culture been performed? If not this is the next step. Was the reproductive tract evaluated with the ultrasound to rule out uterine abnormalities? Unspayed females can develop many problems like pyometra, mucometra, hydeometra, tumors, etc. Additionally a sterile vaginal exam is indicated to rule out abnormalities in this part of the reproductive tract.
