Hello, Parakeets do commonly contract the external parasite Knemidocoptes. I would recommend taking Pineapple into your veterinarian to be seen. They can examine her, weigh her, and determine the best anti-parasitic medication for her case. It generally requires a few doses of the medication over a period of weeks to kill every life stage of the mite. I hope this is helpful. If you suspect mites, there are commercial mite sprays that can be purchased from your local pet store that may help. Keeping the area clean and free of debris may also allow it to heal, however, the beak is VERY overgrown and should be trimmed back, and the feet are also very crusty and painful looking. It would be best to have Pineapple evaluated by a vet, even with at-home treatments, so that additional treatments and care can be provided as needed to help her feel better. If you can't afford care, this site may help give you some ideas to make it more affordable so Pineapple can get the help she needs: https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/having-trouble-affording-veterinary-care
