My puppy threw up after walk. Is it grass or does he need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Male | 6 months and 3 days old | 4 lbs

I took my 6 month old dog out for a 30 minute walk. After we came home, he vomited and threw up the food that he ate like 3 hours ago. Could he have eaten weeds/grass during the walk that might have upset his stomach? Does it require immediate medical attention?

It’s possible that something on the walk caused Michi’s stomach upset: there are many, many potential causes of vomiting in dogs. I don’t necessarily consider one episode of vomiting an urgent problem, but if the vomiting continues, if Michi’s appetite is significantly decreased for 24 hours or more, or if he develops diarrhea then you should head to a vet.
